VILLAGERS in Wootton Courtenay have been alerted to ‘a profusion’ of ivy broomrape growing under a yew tree in the churchyard of All Saints’ Parish Church.

The parasitic plant grows on the roots of ivy, taking all its nutrition from the host plant.

Residents Nicky and Paul Scott said: “We have never seen so many flower spikes in one place.”
