WEST Somerset Railway volunteer Joe Rogers is to take part in April’s London Marathon six years after becoming the first person to run the length of the railway and visit each of the line’s 10 stations.
Mr Rogers, who also used to work for the heritage railway, wants to raise £2,000 toward the restoration by the West Somerset Railway Association of BR standard class 4MT steam locomotive 80064, which it hopes will be in use again in the next four years.
Mr Rogers said: “The railway and its association have given me so much in purpose, passion, and a chance to work with its wonderful people.
“It has meant an awful lot to me and has defined my career and my interests.”
