A LANE on the M5 was closed after a vehicle left the carriageway and collided with a hedge, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue has confirmed

Emergency services rushed to the incident on the northbound carriageway between junctions 22, for Rook’s Ridge, and junction 23, for Bridgwater, at around 5.45am (Tuesday, January 7).

Crews from Bridgwater and Burnham-on-Sea were called to the incident which resulted in one person being trapped in their vehicle.

The fire service said on its log: “Shortly after attendance, crew confirmed that there was one person still within the vehicle which had left the carriageway and collided with a hedge.

“The person within the vehicle was successfully rescued by crew using hydraulic cutting spreaders, V-Struts and a triple extension ladder. The driver of the vehicle was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.”
