MENTAL health charity Mind in Somerset is organising two fund-raising events during October.
First, corporate and community fund-raiser Daniel James is walking 55 laps of the Somerset County Cricket Club ground in Taunton, equivalent to 20 miles.
The ‘Walk For Wellbeing’ will take place on October 10, which is World Mental Health Day, and will symbolise how a person can feel like they are going round in circles dealing with and seeing the same thing over and over again.
Mr James said fresh air, exercise, hobbies, and interests all helped with mental health and would be featured by the cricket ground walk.
The charity is looking for 50 businesses to sponsor him at £50 a circuit and to join him for the lap.
Mr James said: “It symbolises that if we have people to talk to, it can really help and take our mind off our worries, it is good to talk.
“If I walked with one person it would be easier, but after five to 10 laps it still becomes boring and hard, but the more people and new conversations I have, the easier it will be.”
The second event is ‘An Evening with Neil ‘Razor’ Ruddock’ on October 18, which will be hosted at Wembdon Cricket Club.
Neil will tell guests about his career as a professional football player, what it was like to be in television’s ‘I’m a Celebrity’ jungle, what he learnt from celebrity MasterChef, and how he managed to lose a lot of weight.
