FIREFIGHTERS from Minehead and Williton were mobilised to deal with a chimney fire which broke out in a Dunster public house on Friday (February 7) afternoon.
A crew from Minehead was first on the scene at the Luttrell Arms Hotel, in High Street, shortly after 3.30 pm and called for back up and extra chimney gear, which came from Williton.
They found the first floor of the property was smokelogged and they set about tackling the blaze using chimney gear from the hearth.
Fire crews left the property in the care of the pub’s managers by about 7.30 pm.
The 15th century, 28-bedroom Luttrell Arms is privately owned by Nigel and Anne Way and boasts on its website of its ‘roaring log fires’.
