AMBITIOUS plans for a bicycle pump track in Minehead have been outlined to town councillors by a group behind the idea who said active engagement online with the community had seen positive feedback.

They said the Culvercliffe open space beyond the town’s harbour was their preferred location and the project and would hopefully incorporate a revitalisation of the site’s play area.

The site was well-suited because it had parking, public toilets, and the location would not disturb residents.

However, Minehead Mayor Cllr Craig Palmer said at the moment it was difficult for councillors to support the project because Culvercliffe was part of an ongoing devolution legal transfer process with Somerset Council and any potential restrictions on the land were not yet clear.
