AWARD-winning West Somerset eco businessman Keith Hunt has found a way to recycle blister packs in which much of today’s medication is packaged.

The packaging is made from both metal and plastic, making it a challenge to recycle.

But Mr Hunt, who owns the Our Precious Earth shop in Holloway Street, Minehead, is now accepting blister packs for recycling.

He sends the packaging to a Hull-based firm called Myrefactory, where it is made into items such as planters and playground furniture.

The service has been highlighted by Sustainable Wotton Courtenay (SWC), which is encouraging people to collect their blister packs to pass to Mr Hunt.

A SWC spokesperson said: “Every large boxful he sends for recycling costs him £108, so he welcomes a small donation.

“He is also collecting corks for recycling.

“Did you know that cork, even when made into trays or mats, continues to absorb carbon dioxide?”
