MINEHEAD’S five-day Fun Fair has been postponed by a week, in respect for the Royal family following the death of the Queen.
Leigh Danter and Sons’ funfair returns was due to return for a five-day stay for a fourth consecutive year on the Marshfield Common site next to the Rose Gardens off Seaward Way on Wednesday, September 14th.
But following Thursday's sad announcement of the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II, Leigh Danter & Sons Fun Fair have taken the decision to postpone Minehead September fair.
It will now be held on the following week, Wednesday September 21st to Sunday September 25th "as a mark of respect to Our Queen, her family and the rest of the country at this very sad and unprecedented time for us all”.
Owner Leigh Danter went on to add: "We believe this is the right thing to do, as we think it would be inappropriate at this time of mourning.
"This will allow us to have our full hearts in bringing the fun and back to Minehead.
"We hope you all understand and support this deciision.
"God bless our Queen, God save the King."
Attractions will include the Rock Rage ride, making a comeback to Minehead this year, the Waltzer, the SuperStar and Star Flyer, as well as more traditional rides such as the Twist and the Dodgems. There will also be junior rides such as Mini Miami.
