WET and windy weather in Minehead did not stop Jubilee Cafe customers flocking to take part in a ‘Wear It Pink’ fund-raising weekend.

They raised nearly £800 over the two days for Breast Cancer Now, the UK’s largest breast cancer charity.

The charity aims to ensure by 2050 that everybody who is diagnosed with breast cancer survives and is supported to live well.

The cafe’s events were organised by Gilly Rumney, who said: “It was brilliant, it was a huge success.”

Many customers and their families and friends took along their dogs, also wearing pink, and went for a sea front walk, while others enjoyed a tombola organised by local women’s institute members and a bra arch created by cafe worker Callum Andrews.

Minehead’s traditional hobby horse also put in an appearance, while the town’s lingerie shop KnickerBockerGlory donated bras for the event.

Ashton Bruford, who works in the cafe, and his father Simon both had their legs waxed, Wellington singer Kiera Alice Chard performed for guests on the Sunday, and children's face painting courtesy of Snazaroo was among the other activities.

Breast Cancer Now’s ‘Wear It Pink Day’ is one of the charity’s largest UK fund-raising events and is part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
