A SERIES of night closures of the main A39 road through West Somerset is due to start next week.
The road will be closed as it passes through Washford between 7pm and 6am for 10 consecutive nights while National Grid carries out utility repair and maintenance works.
The closures start on Tuesday (October 15) and continue until Friday, October 25, and diversions will be signposted.
Somerset Cllr Mandy Chilcott, who represents Minehead, warned motorists should plan ahead and allow for journeys taking longer than usual.
Cllr Chilcott said there would also be delays on the A39 in Washford on either side of the night closures because Somerset Council was planning highway repair and maintenance work to clean out gullies and jet outfalls on the Williton side of the village on Tuesday and Wednesday, when traffic would be controlled by stop/go boards.
Then, Wessex Water was planning to repair a leaking mains water pipe on the Bilbrook side of the village with temporary traffic lights in place on October 31 and November 1, while Voneus Broadband would also use temporary lights for utility asset works from November 5 to 14.
Details of the works and diversions can be found here.
