ESSENTIAL maintenance work is being carried out by Somerset Council on the B3224 next week near Withiel Florey, Exmoor.
A section of road between Blagdon Lane and the Withiel turn-off is being resurfaced ahead of the start of the summer tourist season.
The work is happening from Monday, June 10, to Thursday, June 13, which will require a full road closure between 9.30am and 3.30pm on those days.
Outside of these hours the road will be open as normal but road-users need to be aware that the surface is currently uneven with covers in place as work will be in progress.
A diversion will be in place while the road is closed and people can find more information on that here: Roadworks and travel information (somerset.gov.uk) .
A spokesperson for Somerset Council said in a statement: “The team will ensure disruption is minimised as much as possible.
“Work was originally planned for later in the year but a postponed scheme elsewhere in the county has freed-up resources and it means the essential maintenance can be done before the summer tourist season starts up in full.”
A separate stretch of the B3224 between Wheddon Cross and Exford was repaired ahead of schedule to the tune of £500,000 in April.
The stretch was closed on January 8 for an embankment to be reinstated at Roundwaters and was not due to be open again until May 10.
