MP Ian Liddell-Grainger has warned farming on Exmoor would virtually cease if Labour environmental policies were adopted.

He said centuries of moorland farming would end if farmers took 20 per cent of land out of food production, as happens in Labour-run Wales, where farmers have to plant trees on 10 per cent and devote 10 per cent to habitat creation.
