A SECOND person in a week who could be local has become a millionaire overnight.
Last week, it was reported a mystery Somerset man referred to as ‘Mr H’ had won £1 million in the EuroMillions lottery.
Now, a woman from Devon known only as ‘Miss A’ has also scooped the EuroMillions UK Millionaire Maker prize.
She was one of the winners in a special draw on Friday, April 21, which created 20 UK millionaires in one night.
The Devon woman played a ‘Lucky Dip’ via the National Lottery app and became one of more than eight million players to win a prize that week in The National Lottery’s range of games.
National Lottery senior winners’ advisor Andy Carter said: “What incredible news for Miss A for winning this fantastic prize.
“She has become a million pounds richer overnight.”
The National Lottery operates several draw-based games, including EuroMillions, Lotto, Set For Life, and Thunderball.
For every EuroMillions line played, UK players automatically receive a EuroMillions Millionaire Maker code printed on their ticket, creating a millionaire in every draw.
The National Lottery, which is operated by Camelot UK Lotteries Ltd, has awarded more than £88 billion in prizes to date and created more than 6,600 millionaires or multi-millionaires since its launch in 1994.
Players generate £30 million each week for Lottery-funded projects, money which helps to support everything from local charities making a difference to their communities through to helping the nations' athletes win medals at last summer’s Commonwealth Games.
To date, more than £47 billion has been raised for National Lottery Good Causes, with more than 670,000 individual grants awarded.
