YOUNG rangers have been busy on Exmoor at the start of the schools Easter holidays, spending time mending fences and visiting a farm.

The youngsters are part of the Exmoor Pioneers four-year project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

They will learn about conservation and enriching nature and develop skills to look after the national park and connect people to the heritage of the former Royal Forest.

Exmoor National Park Authority learning and engagement officer Sophie Tyler, said: “It is well known that early life experiences can sow the seeds for a lifelong love of nature.”

Ms Tyler said the programme was helping to inspire the next generation of park rangers who could protect Exmoor for the health and wellbeing of everybody.
