A-LEVEL examination results were today being revealed to students of West Somerset College, Minehead, with many celebrating outstanding success.
Among the college's notable subject performances this year were 100 per cent records for textiles, further mathematics, and geography in which every student achieved A*-C or equivalent grades.
There were also outstanding individual student performances this year, including Kez Elston, who, after achieving A* A* A* and an addition A in the extended project qualification, will be heading to Oxford University to study biochemistry.
Other notable student achievements included Cleopatra Jackson receiving AAA, Beth Sherburn achieving A*CC, Rupert Sandford achieving BB and a Distinction*, and Reuben Parfrey gaining BBB.
There were also great performances and outcomes in BTEC subjects, with Millie Edwards achieving a Double Distinction in BTEC sport, and Ebony Plenty achieving Distinction* in BTEC health and social care.
Headteacher Nikki Doughty said she was delighted the college had students moving on to study in the University of Exeter, Oxford University, University of Edinburgh, Bournemouth University, University of Worcester, Plymouth University, University Centre Somerset, Nottingham Trent University, Hartpury University, and LMA.
Ms Doughty said the results marked the end of another successful year for the Minehead college sixth form.
She said: “The sixth form has a long tradition of success at A-Level and it is great to see the students celebrating their success.
“Our students go on to a number of different careers – from medicine and engineering to business and law.
“The future looks even brighter for our students within West Somerset Sixth Form as going forward we have a growing cohort of students and a widening provision with new employability, economics and criminology courses from September.
“With such a wide range of courses on offer, West Somerset Sixth Form plays a vital role in helping students to achieve their goals within the local community.
“We wish all our students the very best for the future and would like to congratulate all of our sixth form students who have worked incredibly hard, we are so proud of you.”
West Somerset College has an offer of 26 courses comprising A-Levels, BTECs, and level 1-3 vocational learning for 16 to 19 year-olds running from September this year.
