A MAN has appeared in a magistrates court following a distraction burglary in Minehead five weeks ago where a wallet and jewellery were stolen from an elderly man.

A police investigation into the incident led to the arrest of Kallum Nolan, aged 27, of Hawthorn Road, Minehead.

Nolan was charged with one count of burglary in relation to the incident in the Parkhouse Road area on Sunday, May 26.

He was further charged with 11 counts of fraud, which related to the alleged use at cashpoints and retail premises of bank cards taken in the burglary, as well as separate charges of shoplifting and common assault relating to an incident in the Co-op store in The Avenue, Minehead, on Tuesday, March 12.

Nolan appeared in Taunton Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday of last week (June 26) and was released on bail to attend a further hearing on Monday, August 12.
