A new annual car parking permit has been launched for some Exmoor National Park car parks.

A new annual car parking permit will now be available as a year-round option for selected Exmoor National Park car parks in Devon and Somerset, including Tarr Steps, Valley of Rocks and Ashcombe in Simonsbath.

Access and Recreation Manager for Exmoor National Park Dan Barnett said: “Exmoor National Park would like to send a thank you to all the residents and visitors who pay to use Exmoor NP car parking facilities.  The money generated helps to support vital work across the National Park, including maintaining the car parks and toilets themselves but also educational activities for our young people and conservation, public access work and nature recovery projects.

“A great deal of work has gone into improving our visitor facilities, we hope they provide a warm welcome and help people enjoy Exmoor. It costs us 95 thousand pounds a year just to clean and maintain our carparks and toilet facilities across the National Park including popular visitor sites like Tarr Steps and Valley of Rocks.

“This year we have also spent a further 120 thousand pounds on refurbishment works to ensure they continue to offer a high-quality experience. We work hard to keep costs down in these challenging financial times and ensure all proceeds are put back into the national park and its facilities. The new annual pass provides a cost-effective option for our regular visitors to help us support the tireless work that goes into protecting and maintaining our wonderful National Park.”

The Exmoor National Park Annual car parking permits are available from Exmoor National Park Centres at Dulverton, Dunster and Lynmouth, or can be purchased online for £60. Each pass is valid for 12 months and can be used in up to two registered cars (only one at any time). Full details can be found here.
