A SUMMER ‘fun day’ could return this year on the George Meadow Millennium Green, in Brompton Regis.

Green trustees are looking at the idea and inviting people to attend a meeting in the village hall on January 22.

Trustee Jenny Stringer said: “Since its inception, one of the aims of this open space was to help bring people together, and for several years a ‘fun day’ was a feature on the Brompton Regis calendar.

“We hope to revive this tradition, but we need help.

“It would be free to attend, but with charges for food and drink.

“The events to celebrate after lockdown and the jubilee and coronation proved successful, so l am sure we can make this a fun enjoyable afternoon.”

Ms Stringer said the meeting was to gauge enthusiasm for the idea and to come up with some proposals.

Anybody who cannot attend but wants to be involved should call Ms Stringer on 01823 257145 or email [email protected].

Ms Stringer said: “I have a few ideas, such as a produce stall, raffle, games, such as dressing-up race, welly wanging, maybe morris dancers.”

The organising committee of the annual Brompton Regis Gymkhana and Show, which this year will be held on August 9, is also looking for more volunteers to help on the day.

Funds raised from last year’s show have been distributed to local organisations, including £2,300 to the village shop, £1,000 for churchyard maintenance, and £500 for the group trying to save The George Inn public house.
