A WOMAN has died and three people have been arrested following a car crash on a main road near Minehead.
The crash happened on the A39 near the Porlock Road junction at about 7 pm on Wednesday (January 31).
The road was closed overnight and reopened shortly before 6.30 am on Thursday (February 1) after police collision investigators had carried out their inquiries.
The woman was a passenger in the vehicle and was treated by paramedics and an air ambulance was called, but she died at the scene.
Police said her family were being supported by a specially trained officer.
They said three people were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, two teenagers aged 18 and 19 years, and a man aged 45.
The teenagers were also separately arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs.
A police spokesperson said all three were being held in custody.
The spokesperson appealed for anybody who witnessed the crash and had not yet spoken to police, or anybody who was driving in the area at the time and had any dashcam footage which could help the investigation, to call 101 and quote reference 5224027108.
