SIR — I refer to the report in last week's Free Press and Trader concerning the appointment of the new leaders of Minehead Male Voice Choir.

I was very surprised to read of my impending move to Cornwall, of which I knew nothing, and I have no thoughts on the origins of this Piranic myth.

I feel rather like the man who, a few years ago, read his own obituary in a national daily!

May I assure the choir, members of other organisations in which I have an active interest, those people who have already put the word about and who have heard it erroneously, the estate agents, the managers of Tesco and Morrisons, my hairdresser, my golfing partner and most of all, my wife, that I am not emigrating to Cornwall nor, for a while at least, to anywhere else.

My only regret is that this may appear to be contrary to the preferences of some!

At some stage in the future, I may well move to a site in Wellington New Road, Taunton, though no date for this is contemplated just yet!

However, may I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to the many people, in addition to the members of the choir, who have been kind enough to express their appreciation for my work, along with that of co-founder Keith Halstead (who has moved to Cornwall!) during the first ten years of the Minehead Male Voice Choir which has now become an established part of the West Somerset musical scene.

Long may the choir continue to progress under its new leaders, to whom I offer my best wishes.

Robert Green,

Paganel Way,

Minehead.
