TEENAGER Anthony Knight has completed a 16-month tour of major European cities giving violin recitals on the way to raise funds for UNICEF.

In between, Anthony, aged 18, who lives in Minehead and attends Taunton School, has also performed in a host of local churches and care homes.

Over the past 12 months Anthony’s UNICEF Grand Tour has seen him perform recitals in 12 countries and travel 13,500 miles.

The tour climax was to the Benelux countries, plus Switzerland, from July 14 to 23, finishing with a performance in Bern Minster.

He gave a teatime recital at Sofitel Legend The Grand Amsterdam, which sales and marketing director Kees Hogetoorn said was ‘a unique event blending the elegance of the hotel’s renowned afternoon tea with the mesmerizing sounds of Anthony’s violin, creating an atmosphere of pure enchantment’.

Anthony also performed in the Brussels Marriott Hotel Grand Place, and Sofitel Luxembourg Europe, in Luxembourg City, before the Bern Minster appearance.

At each venue Anthony talked about his grand tour and invited members of the audience to donate at Unicef.org.

His father Paul Knight said: “Anthony would like to thank everybody who sponsored his UNICEF Grand Tour, which he hopes, through extensive media coverage, has inspired other young people to use their talents for good, as well as raising awareness and vital funds for UNICEF.”
