NATIONAL Highways are warning drivers to expect severe disruptions on the M5 throughout January due to planned roadworks.

Planned work take place between M5 junctions 25 (Taunton) and 28 (Cullompton) from 8pm on January 13 until 6am on January 23, with closed lanes or complete road closures.

The majority of disruptions are expected from January 13-18 and January 20-23 unless stated otherwise.

At Wellington’s junction 26, all lanes along the M5 northbound entry and exit slip roads will be closed between 9pm and 6am.

At Taunton’s junction 25, the northbound entry slip road will be closed from 9am on January 11 until 5am on January 12.

Between Taunton and Wellington, two lanes will be closed on the M5 southbound from 8pm until 6am.

Roadworks are currently active between junctions 26 and 28 southbound and are set to finish on January 13, with two of four lanes closed. All four lanes will then be closed from January 13-18 and 20-23 from 9pm until 6am on weeknights only. Traffic will be diverted via the A38 and B3181.

The road will be open as usual during the day and at weekends.

Drivers can expect further delays during the day between junctions 26 and 28 between January 14-24 from 6am until 9pm, with two of four lanes closed.

All roadworks between junctions 26 (Wellington) and 28 (Cullompton) will allow National Highways to carry out repairs to the concrete that makes up the base layer of M5 around junction 27.

At junction 27 near Willand, the southbound entry and exit, and northbound exit slip roads will be closed from 9pm until 6am.

Disruptions are also to be expected on the M5 northbound between Wellington and Tiverton, junctions 26 and 27, with lane closures from 9pm until 6am.

Closures will continue into February to continue essential concrete repairs.

The M5 southbound junction 27 entry and exit slip roads will be closed from 9pm on Friday, January 31 until 6am on Monday, February 3, inclusive. The same slip roads will be closed again from February 7-10.

Traffic will be diverted via junction 26 and junction 28
