WOOTTON Courtenay residents are being asked to help with research into the village’s war dead.

‘West Somerset at War’ website administrator John Smith and a friend have begun looking into the background of those who fell during the two world wars.

Mr Smith said: “We are a couple of old veterans ourselves and have started to research the names of those on the Wootton Courtenay war memorial, in All Saints’ Church.

“We have found a huge amount of information about some of the soldiers, but for others very little at all.

“We could do with some help from, perhaps, descendant family members still living in the area or maybe others who have previously undertaken some local research.

“If anybody can add any additional information, stories, or photos to help us build upon what we have found out already, we would be very grateful.”
