SEVERAL hundred local residents and visitors alike helped to raise thousands of pounds at this year’s annual Williton Fete.

The money will help maintain and improve the village’s War Memorial Ground, which was the venue for the event.

The volunteers who organised the fete once again saw warm and sunny weather bless the variety of family-friendly activities throughout the afternoon, with light rain only appearing late in the day.

There was something on offer for all ages, ranging from entertainment in the main arena to displays of vintage vehicles and classic tractors.

A fun dog show saw extra classes added this year, and the flower, produce, and craft show featured categories for everybody, including children.

A spokesperson said: “Whether you grow it, bake it, or craft it, we want to see it.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to share your hard work and creativity with others.”

There were also artisan craft stalls, a barbecue, tea and cakes, and a tombola.

The dog show top prize went to Harriet Benford with her borzoi hound, named Pickle, a Russian breed of hunting dog.

Williton firefighting crews gave rescue demonstrations, while the Doniford Platoon of Somerset Army Cadets also put on displays and helped to man access to the fete.
