ALLOTMENT holders in Wiveliscombe are being banned from using weedkillers which contain the herbicide glyphosate.

Town councillors decided to impose the ban on the 46 plots after hearing concern the chemical was linked with environmental harm and possible human health issues such as cancer.

Glyphosates are being phased out in the UK following Brexit and will be illegal by December of next year.
