HEMYOCK beat Over Stowey by six wickets at home to stay top of the fourth division of the West Somerset Cricket League.

Stowey, put into bat, scored 182-5 in their 40 overs with opener Mark Sortwell scoring 79 not out, while Cheney Mogford was 35 not out. Adam Welch took 3-34.

Mark Salter led the run-chase for the Devon outfit, scoring 74 not out while Louis Allan hit 32 and Welch 22 not out.

Hemyock have a five-point lead over rivals Ashbrittle, who have a game in hand and were awarded 35 points after Roadwater cried off their game.

In the only other fixture played in the division, Buckland St Mary & Bishopswood were 28-run winners away to Brompton Ralph. Buckland, batting first, hit 222-6 in their 40 overs with Ian Every three short of a century, while Pal Every scored 52 and Lewis Rich 48 not out.

Brompton fell away after a good start by Ben Moody (35), Simon Pettit (42) and Jason Bindon (33 not out). Lewis Rich took 3-18 and Ian Every 3-53.

Hemyock play away to East Huntspill this coming weekend while Ashbrittle are away to Buckland St Mary & Bishopswood.
