SOMERSET’S Josh Davey has signed a one-year extension to his contract that will see him remain at the Cooper Associates County Ground until at least the end of the 2025 season.
Josh who was born in Aberdeen but grew up in Bury St Edmunds has enjoyed a very successful career with the Cidermen during which he has played in 127 matches and taken 267 wickets.
He first came to the attention of Somerset after being released by Middlesex in 2013 where he played for the Second XI against Essex.
On the strength of his performance Dave Nosworthy who was at that time the Somerset director of cricket offered Josh the opportunity to train with Somerset during the winter which he accepted.
At the start of the 2014 season Josh signed a summer contract and the following summer made his first team debut against New Zealand, since when his career has really blossomed and he has become an essential part of the squad.
Although he started his career with Middlesex as a top order batter it is as a quick bowler that he has made his mark with Somerset and in the 56 first class matches he has played to date he has taken 161 wickets at an average of 23.04.
