MINEHEAD Seconds lost to South Petherton by 106 runs in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League
Minehead won the toss and opted to field first. South Petherton batters were in top form and after opener Sam Palmer was bowled by Connor Paterson for 13, Grant Richards joined Adam Young.
The second wicket pairing shared a big stand before Richards was dismissed by James Griffiths for 73 while Young who had scored 101 was caught by Davis off Ananthapadmanabhan Rajan.
Once the partnership was broken Griffiths claimed a further four wickets. Later in the innings Tom Balch made an unbeaten 19 as Petherton posted 240 for seven from their 40 overs.
Griffiths ended with the impressive figures of five for 39 from his seven overs.
Minehead lost openers Dan Pawson for nine and Jonah Hopkins for eight before Andrew Stevens came to the wicket. The skipper moved his total onto 11 before he was out after which Gary Bennett and James Davis joined forces.
Bennett scored 26 before he was out after which Davis then shared a partnership with Jack White who made 15 before Minehead were all out for 134 in 29 overs, Davis ending unbeaten on 37.
For the visitors Kevin Harris claimed three wickets for 31.
