ALL Stars Cricket is now well underway at Minehead Cricket Club and every week for an hour on Thursday evenings 24 youngsters between the ages of five and eight turn up to enjoy a fun filled evening learning the skills needed to play the summer game.
The nationwide initiative – created by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) – enables children to acquire the skills to play the game and connect with England’s cricketing heroes.
All Stars Cricket offers eight weeks of coaching in a safe and inclusive environment, with the focus on having fun and making friends, providing children with all the fundamental skills they will need to play the game.
“Sadly the club couldn’t put the programme on last year so I went and got trained so that I could do it voluntarily for the club,” said Suzanne Richards who runs All Stars at Minehead.
“At the moment I have got a couple of the lads who play cricket with the club helping me - Jonah Hopkins and Sam Cobb, and then I have got my son Jack Richards and daughter Alice Richards involved- so it's very much a family affair and we are all there involved and enjoying it.”
