MINEHEAD 2nd XI went down by 115 runs away to their Chard counterparts in Division Three of the Somerset Cricket League, having begun the game above them in the table.
Put into bat Chard lost an early wicket before Brian Thompson who made 63 and Andrew Clancy with 28 added 73 for the second wicket.
Lower in the order George Best and Jon Dalwood both hit 31 after which Andrew Sochon hit a rapid 44 off 20 balls to see the home side to 265 for seven in their 45 overs.
Lewis Goodrum claimed three for 40, while Gary Bennett ended with two for 42.
When Minehead replied they lost early wickets before Goodrum, batting at number four, came to the wicket and shared partnerships of 34 for the fifth wicket with Bennett who hit 13, and 19 with Henry Murrel,l before he was out for a patient 41 which came off 97 balls.
Murrell stayed at the crease while the remaining wickets tumbled and remained unbeaten on 14 as Minehead were all out for 115 in 34.4 overs.
For Chard the pick of the bowlers was Dalwood who took two for four from his four overs, while Lewis Griffiths and Sochon both took two apiece.
