MINEHEAD got their season off to a winning start in the Under 15 11 a side section of the Taunton & District Youth Cricket League when they travelled to Stogumber on Sunday morning to play against the Quantock Allstars who are a newly formed and amalgamated team .
Batting first on a quick wicket and fast outfield the visitors posted an impressive 229 for three in their 20 overs against their inexperienced opponents.
Both of the Minehead openers had to retire - Ollie making 52 and Sam 50.
However, the runs continued to flow with six players passing double figures including 33 not out from Albert, Noah who made 24 and Harry S with 21.
The Allstars stuck well to their task in the hot conditions while their wicket takers were Ben, Oscar and Amelie.
In reply the Allstars found runs hard to come by against some tight and accurate bowling with only Billy passing double figures, before being run out for 29.
Minehead’s bowlers stuck to their task and fielded well to restrict the home side to 76 for eight off their 20 overs. Albert took three for eight while there were also wickets for Oscar, Logan, Reiss and Harry P.
