THE mixed weather over the recent half term holiday prevented a number of the fixtures for the Somerset Pathway cricket teams taking place - much to the frustration of those involved.
The Boys Under 18s played two games in Group 2 of ECB T20 competition at Bromsgrove School.
In the match against Worcestershire after being put into bat Somerset reached 119 for nine in reply to which their hosts reached 123 for four in 15.3 overs.
In the second match after choosing to bat Northamptonshire were dismissed for 132 in 19.3 overs, Fin Hill taking three for 15 and James Theedom three for 22.
When Somerset replied they slipped to 26 for three before a fourth wicket partnership of 98 in 11.2 overs between Oscar Coleman who hit 45 off 40 balls and James Matravers who remained unbeaten on 50, which he scored off 33 balls and included four fours and two sixes, helped them to a six wicket victory in the 16th over.
The Under 15 boys travelled to Grampound Road to play Cornwall who, batting first, posted 135 for six, with Noah Lewis-Jones claiming three for eight. In reply Somerset reached 124 for five, of which opener Hanson Martin made 28, while Leo Majoe ended unbeaten on 38 and ‘keeper Theo Bennett 14 not out, the pair sharing an unbroken partnership of 32 in 20 balls.
The Under 15 boys also played against Dorset at Sherborne School in a 50 over contest where after putting their hosts in, bowled them out for 190 , Peter McGovern claiming two for 27 and Robert Patch two for 26.
Somerset replied with 191 for eight in 37.4 overs, of which Hanson Martin made 64 off 91 balls with four fours and a six, Theo Lamey hit a run a ball 40 with six fours and Theo Bennett made 25.
Somerset Boys Under 14s played against Devon in Group 3 of the ECB County Cup and batting first were dismissed for 146 in 37.5 overs, of which Lewis Townsend top scored with 39, James Baker hit 28 and Oliver Hanmer 21, in reply to which Devon reached their target for the loss of one wicket in 30.2 overs.
Somerset Girls Under 15s made the trip to Clifton College to play against Gloucestershire in Group 9 of the ECB 50 over competition.
Batting first the hosts were all out for 114 in 37.4 overs, Verity Clark claiming three for 14. In reply Somerset slipped to 18 for two before Charlotte Webber and Megan Driskel added 38 together in six overs before the former was out for 13. Two further wickets then tumbled as the visitors found themselves 58 for five.
Megan, who ended with 26, was then joined by Ami Balasubramanian (15) and the pair added 35 in 6.2 overs to help Somerset to 94 for seven, after which Jessica Slade who remained unbeaten on eight and Poppy Hawker with five not out steered their side to victory in the 26th over.
The Somerset Wyverns Senior Girls played two T20 matches against Gloucestershire. In the first game Somerset were all out for 59 in 18.5 overs Bella James top scoring with 22, in reply to which the hosts made 60 for six with Gemma Quick claiming two for three.
In the second game Somerset Wyverns Senior Girls posted 115 for seven, Gemma Quick top scoring with 22, while Arabella Reid made 17, Mia Maguire 16 and Libby James-Reeves 15. The hosts were then bowled out for 62 in 17 overs, with Bella James, Alice Allen and Beth Heywood all claiming two wickets each.
