WIVELISCOMBE'S young side are still without a victory in the second division of the Somerset Cricket League after losing by eight wickets at home to Yeovil.
Batting first, Wiveliscombe scored 184-5 in their 40 overs with opener Gareth Bellamy top scoring with 61 before being stumped. He shared in a big opening stand of 101 with Richard Morrison who hit 33. Jake Woodward scored 43 while Elliot Adu Darko was 15 not out.
Matthew Shorto took 2-27 and Sonny Dennett 2-28 and there also a wicket for Tom Redwood.
Yeovil's openers Dennett and Shorto were also in good form, sharing in a 113 run stand before Dennett fell for 58 while Shorto went on to make 65 not out. Sam Watts also made 36 from 23 balls. Yeovil reached their target with six overs to spare.
Henry Welch and Lewis Clark were the only bowlers to take wickets as Yeovil collected 30 points and Wiveliscombe 11.
Wiveliscombe's defeat was their fourth in five matches so far this season and they are two points adrift at the bottom of the table.
Broadway & Horton top the table and have a 12-point lead over Yeovil who are now lying second.
