DULVERTON Town won their third home game on the bounce on Saturday when they beat West Somerset rivals Porlock Reserves 5-2 at home in Division Two of the Taunton Saturday League.
For the second week running Town started slowly and conceded two goals in the opening 10 minutes. However by midway through the half they started to settle in to the game. An injury to Jaydon Hayes, brought Jack Kelly to the field, who found pockets of space on the left and linked well with Romano Carey, Lee Coutts and Dave Kelland in midfield.
It was skipper Dave Kelland that was the creative spark in midfield and by the 35th minute he had put his brother James Kelland in behind the defence multiple times only for the winger to scuff his shots wide each time. However it was James Kelland who got through once again and passed to target man Adam Chamberlain who smashed the ball home to half the deficit.
Right on the strike of halftime James Kelland found himself some space after a corner and nodded the ball home from two yards. Town were happy to go in at half time with the scores level at 2-2.
When play resumed the hosts were straight back in action and their hard work paid off when a cross in to the box led to Chamberlain carrying out an audacious bicycle kick which smashed in to the back of the net and put Town in front for the first time.
Town centre backs Wilson and Jones were in control at the back, aided by Bobby Burke on the right and Kelly on the left and their strong foundation was allowing Romano Carey and skipper Kelland to control the midfield.
The fourth goal was a true team effort with the ball being played round at the back, slotted in to midfield and a ball for winger Kelland to chase over the top. With nothing on ahead he waited and turned provider for his brother Dave who sprinted forward and slotted home his second in two games to put Town in to a comfortable two goal lead.
Fresh legs were brought on in the form of Luca Carey, Alex Jones, Vince Towers and Toby Cottrell and it was the latter that rose high from a Town corner with a bullet header to put Town 5-2 up with ten minutes to play.
This was a commanding display from Town in the second half with goalkeeper Carl Hooper being a bystander for most of the half.
The result sees Dulverton Town move up to fourth in the table. This Saturday sees the West Somerset side travel away to face Bridgwater Colts where the kick off is at 4pm.
