MINEHEAD Under 12 Girls played their first home game of 2025 on Saturday when they hosted Somerton and with lots of local support from the sidelines, the hosts knew they were in for an exciting game.

Minehead started strongly, putting pressure on Somerton from the first whistle.

With plenty of possession of the ball, it wasn’t long before chances came from Minehead.

In the fifth minute of the match a good strike came and the ball passed the keeper and hit the bottom left hand corner of the net to put the hosts into the lead.

With Minehead’s confidence high they found their rhythm, dominating the game.

They spent most of the first half in Somerton’s territory and by the time the whistle blew for the break the score was 4-0 to the home team.

The second half was played in the same fashion with Minehead spending lengthy periods attacking Somerton’s goal.

Despite the visitors best defensive efforts, the home side scored three quick goals within six minutes.

With minutes to go, one last goal of the day came ensuring Minehead walked away with a big 8-0 victory, making it the team’s eighth undefeated game of the season.
