MINEHEAD Reserves, still in search of their first win of the season in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League, were beaten 3-2 away in their latest game.
Minehead were largely on the back foot from the start with Grove playing downhill and after 25 minutes found themselves two goals behind.
The midfield of Oli Reaney, Ethan Hall, Bart Kubaczewski and captain Dan Vickers worked hard and it was from one of these occasions Jani Jasielczuk was put though only to see his shot go agonisingly wide. Reaney had another chance similar to those he has buried this season but his shot was too close to the excellent Grove keeper.
Although Grove added a third Minehead continued to work hard and pulled one back not long before the interval when Vickers shot was again well saved but he managed to bundle in the rebound.
Minehead’s defence of Oli Jones, Lyam Scheepers (on for Kaan Huckle), Andy Gubb and Lewis Norman now looked much more solid with keeper Robbie Hamblin having much less to do.
After 69 minutes Andy Hall played an excellent ball through to find Vickers in behind the home defence and he rounded the keeper for his 5th of the season. Man of the match: Ethan Hall.
