DESPITE leading by two goals, Minehead lost 9-5 away to Tone Youth Wasps in Division Two of the Under 14 section in the Taunton Youth Football League.

This was a classic ‘game of two halves’ as Jacob Fouracre put the visitors ahead after just 30 seconds. The home side came back straight away to level the scores. A corner by Charlie Bonar found Casey Paxton who lashed in a sweetly struck half-volley to put Minehead back in front. Bonar extended the lead with an audacious lob from 25 yards to make it 3-1.

It was Tone who scored again as they went forward relentlessly. creating chances and Minehead’s defence had their hands full.

Minehead ‘keeper Harry Milton produced some great saves during this period to ensure that it remained 3-2 at the break. It was Minehead who struck again when Jacob Fouracre scored making it 4-2 on 40 minutes.

Tone stepped up a gear and five minutes later it was 4-3 before two minutes later they equalised.

On 53 minutes, Tone took the lead for the first time and shortly afterwards a towering header flew in to the top corner to make it 6-4. Minehead responded as Casey Paxton latched on to a lovely through ball from Reggie High on 58 minutes to make it 6-5.

However hopes of a comeback were soon dashed as Tone Youth restored their two goal with another top corner effort . The game was sealed in the 63rd minute with a goal that rifled shot in to the bottom corner. Minehead tried to rally themselves and had some decent spells of possession without really threatening goal, whilst Tone Youth looked dangerous every time they got the ball, On 68 minutes another long range effort flew in to the top corner to make it 9-5.
