MINEHEAD AFC Under 15s hosted Swiss Valley, from Division One of the Bristol League, in the second round of the Somerset County Cup. Against tough opponents Minehead looked to take the game to the visitors from the off determined to prove themselves.
The visitors took the lead after 15 minutes when a goal kick deflected off their front runner and into the net. Minehead stepped up a level and were moving the ball around well with the back line having to remain on their toes dealing with any threat.
Just before the half hour mark the visitors doubled their lead when they won the ball and fired home. With only a few minutes of the half remaining Minehead suffered a huge blow when they lost their captain through injury.
With a shuffle in players at the break Minehead went back out fighting and it wasn’t long before a ball from Wyre fell to Charlie Mossman who was able to pull one back. Minehead then pressed for the equaliser and were having the run of play but the visitors defence was strong.
With just 10 minutes of the game remaining the visitors claimed two quick goals to win the game 4-1. MOTM shared between Jake Alford and Edward How.
