MINEHEAD will be looking to keep up with the leaders in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League when they play away to Nailsea & Tickenham on Saturday, March 1.

Even though they will be without George Painter (injured), Rob Vickers (working) and Ollie Hall (suspended), Minehead will be fielding 'a pretty strong side' says manager Craig Carr.

Minehead beat Nailsea 5-0 at home at the end of October, and Carr said: "It's a game we really need to win. We need the points if we're going to stay up with the leaders."

Minehead, lying sixth in the table, were due to play away to Wrington Redhill last weekend but the game was called off on the morning of the match because of the bad weather. They have not played since they lost 2-1 at home to Stockwood Green a fortnight ago. However, they have games in hand on two of the sides above them.

Congresbury are the runaway leaders of the division, having opened up a nine-point lead at the top. They have lost only once this season.

Having gained an impressive 3-1 away win over Stockwood Wanderers last weekend, Watchet Town will look to continue their good form when they play at home to Chilcompton Sports, although it will not be easy against a side lying second in the division (3p.m.). Sports beat Watchet 3-1 at home in November.

Watchet are four points clear of the relegation zone but are fast running out of games in their bid to ensure their status.

Their victory at Stockwood shows they can beat the better sides in the division but Chilcompton are looking good bets for promotion, having lost only two matches.

Ilminster Town are seven points clear of the field after their 3-0 home win over Worle, having been beaten only once in the league this season.
