PORLOCK Ladies travelled away to play Crewkerne Rangers in their last game of the season in Division Three South of the Somerset Women’s Football League with a strong 12 player squad.
With Crewkerne at limited numbers the game started a 9v8. However, after 10 minutes, Crewkerne added another player, making it a more balanced 9v9.
Despite the numerical advantage early on for Porlock, Crewkerne fought hard early to stay in the game. However, the first goal of the match came from Amiee, who calmly slotted it past the Crewkerne defence and keeper to give Porlock the lead.
The West Somerset side then pushed for more, employing quick and clever triangle passing, but with no linesman, Crewkerne managed to equalise despite being offside, bringing the score to 1-1 at half-time.
The second half saw Porlock make some defensive adjustments now having a linesman, and Amiee continued to play a pivotal role in the attack with a determined effort and a scramble in the Crewkerne goal mouth leading to another goal, putting Porlock 2-1 up.
Moments later, Georgia unleashed a powerful strike from outside the box, sending the ball flying over the Crewkerne goalkeeper and into the net to extend Porlock’s lead to 3-1.
In the final 20 minutes, Amiee found the net twice more to seal a 5-1 victory for Porlock Ladies who finished their season on a high..
Porlock finished second in the table, only three points behind top and only losing two games all season. It has been a great season for all. Player of the Match: Aimee James.
