Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club Seniors commenced a much-anticipated full week of competitions last Monday with a Medal qualifier.
With considerable surface water notably on the front nine, conditions were not easy, which was reflected in the scoring.
However two players did manage to register sub-par rounds; Tony Connolly with a nett 70 was the winner while Steve Woodbury carded 71 to finish second, while third place was claimed by Tim Evans with 74.
Unfortunately, the elements subsequently took charge and both Wednesday’s and Friday’s competitions were cancelled.
Despite the weather, the greenkeeping staff were able to progress with the completion of the new practice nets funded largely by the Seniors Section, which are a huge improvement both structurally and visually.
The Minehead Seniors are very much hoping for the weather to improve to enable them to return to their normal full schedule of competitions.
