VERY challenging conditions greeted the ten golf teams of Minehead Seniors on Monday for the Bowmaker competition, at the end of which the winning team were Steve Gay, Edward Frewin and Sandy Lyons with 65 points.

Pete Young, Paul Thompson and Mark Ruttley were runners up with 62 points, just ahead of Willie Brown, Doug Hayhoe and Dave Ball with 61.

A Florida Scramble was played on Wednesday in much improved conditions. In a close competition the team of Mark Ruttley, Paul Thompson and Neville Parsons took first place with a nett 64.

Three teams carded 65, but after count back the runners up were Martin Hole, Edward Frewin and Malcolm Bruce. Third place went to Chris Durman, Graham Smith and Nigel Trevelyan just ahead of Andy Giles, W John Perkins and Rob Poirrier.

Minehead Seniors’ held their Christmas Bash on Friday with an 8am shotgun start for a four ball Texas Scramble.

The winners with a nett 56 were Bob Arthington, Malcolm Bruce, John Burrow and Steve Woodbury, second with 58 were Richard Baker, Tony Connolly, Andy Giles and Dave Oatridge, while third with 61 were Chris Durman, Roger Green, Andy Hodgson and Tony Pizii.

All teams then congregated in the Clubhouse to enjoy a superb Christmas Lunch.
