WHITE Horse were on home turf again against Basement Dwellers in the first division of the West Somerset Table Tennis League.
David Bryant was in the saddle for the home team and top-scored with six singles sets as White Horse scored points. Basement Dwellers were first out of the stalls as they proceeded to extend their lead throughout proceedings. Mike Vickery won the player of the match award for his unopposed maximum, and was well supported by Kerry Manicom with seven singles sets and Jasper Pye with six. Basement Dwellers edged out their opponents in the doubles to chalk up 28 points.
Hawks put on a splendid performance in their quest for Division Two glory when they entertained Roy’s Boys. Mark Scyner was flying high and managed to attain a maximum in the singles after a five-set thriller against Barry Hooper. Mark was rewarded with the player of the match award. Alfie and Nathaniel Southam both played well and added 7 and 5 singles sets respectively. With a maximum in the doubles, Hawks went top of the division.
For Roy’s Boys, Barry Hooper was the stand-out player with eight sets.
