MINEHEAD Hockey Club Ladies hosted top of the table Isca 2s in their first game back after the half-term break - and their rivals proved too good, winning 4-0, although the final scoreline was slightly flattering for the visitors.

A strong Minehead team were prepared for a tough game and held their own in the first half, mopping up wave upon wave of Isca attacks.

Minehead’s defence of Bailey, Hirons, Koppa, Cornish and Garwood kept Isca at bay with keeper Weetch making some crucial saves.

The forwards and midfield sat much deeper, helping to swarm Isca’s forward press. However, with five minutes to go before the break, Isca got lucky with a shot as the ball trickled into the goal to break the deadlock, with the score being 1-0 to the visitors at half time.

After a big pep-talk during the half time interval, Minehead re-started the game with renewed energy, putting Isca under pressure for the next 20 minutes.

Despite this pressure, unfortunately, Minehead were unable to capitalise and convert possession into goals.

Nearing the end of the game, Minehead began to run out of steam and Isca’s relentless pressure paid off, earning them three goals in quick succession to leave the final score 4-0 to the Exeter outfit. Exmoor Adventures Player of the Match went to Charlotte and Morgan.

This coming Saturday, March 8, Minehead Ladies travel to Sidmouth and Ottery in another league game. All support would be welcome and greatly appreciated.
