MINEHEAD Ladies Hockey Club Ladies endured a challenging outing against Tiverton White Eagles, falling 4-1 in a fast-paced encounter at Tiverton.
Despite a strong effort, Minehead had a few missed scoring opportunities which made the difference. Minehead took control early, scoring a quick goal in the early minutes of the game when they broke through Tiverton's defence and Morgan made a sharp play to neatly put the ball past Tiverton's keeper.
This lifted Minehead's spirits, and they had some attacking opportunities but Tiverton fought back eventually scoring a field goal and then scoring in a well-executed short corner.
After halftime, Minehead pushed for an equalizer, creating several chances, but the Tiverton goalkeeper made key saves to deny them. White Eagles punished the missed opportunities, scoring twice more in the final half - both from open play.
While the scoreline was disappointing, captain Jess Koppa praised the team’s determination and efforts throughout the game despite the rainy conditions. Minehead ladies will aim to rebound in their game next week on home turf.
