MINEHEAD Ladies secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Sidmouth & Ottery in an exciting hockey match.

It was Sidmouth & Ottery who struck first, taking the lead after a well-executed short corner.

Despite this setback, Minehead refused to be disheartened and dug deep to defend against the relentless pressure from Sidmouth's attacking plays. Solid defensive work kept Sidmouth at bay, as Minehead worked tirelessly to regain possession and build their attacks.

After the break, Minehead began to find their rhythm. A series of well-executed short corners saw the equalizer. Gemma pushed the ball out to Hannah, who then slid it to Jess who calmly slotted it home to bring the score level.

Minehead maintaqined the pressure and were rewarded with a second goal shortly after. Gemma, showing excellent vision and power, sent a strong ball into the D, where Morgan was perfectly positioned to make a quick touch and score, giving Minehead a 2-1 lead.

Sidmouth & Ottery continued to fight, but Minehead's defence held firm, with the team maintaining their lead until the final whistle.

This victory was a testament to Minehead's resilience and team spirit throughout the game.The West Somerset Railway player of the match was shared between Gemma and Jess, both of whom played key roles in the victory.
