MINEHEAD Hockey Club Ladies hosted a Club Day as a social way to round off their season.

It was a great chance for past and current members to play, socialise and eat delicious food. The day was well attended with 21 players taking to the pitch along with a crowd of supporters.

The match began with both teams being equally cagey and stringing together during some excellent passages of play to the delight of coach Andrew on the sidelines.

The Whites opened the scoring with a lovely goal from Amy W which rebounded into the net off new keeper Becca. The Pinks retaliated, and despite having one less player, bounced back with a goal of their own through Zoey with a brilliant assist from Fran.

After the second break it was still tied at 1-1 before a breakthrough from Pinks saw them get their second goal which was quickly equalised by the Whites. The very tight game ended with a well-deserved 2-2 draw. Throughout the day there was much laughter and fun which was emphasised with the awarding of Paper Plate Awards after match teas provided by the Committee. Minehead Ladies would like to thank all of their sponsors and supporters this season and wish all players and umpires a well-deserved break over the Summer.

A friendly Summer League will be running from mid-July until the end of August which is open to all players and anyone who wishes to come along and have a go.

Those who attended the Club Day included: Arabella Browne, Iona Leckie, Jess Koppa, Amy Tisshaw, Becca Orpin, Sue Garwood, Sarah Hayes, Zoey Cape, Carol Matravers, Liz Darby, Denise Lancaster, Gemma Chilcott, Hannah Sparks, Izzy Burns, Tracey Bailey, Amy Wickens, Saphie Haddon, Daisy Bishop, Fran Wright, Charlotte Hirons, Morgan Cooper, Beatrice, Jan Weetch
