SANDHILL Racing Stables , situated alongside the A39 at Bilbrook, are enjoying a rich run of success and between 29th October and 10th November chalked up four winners.
Talking about their success Johnson White, who shares the trainers licence with Philip Hobbs, said: “The horses are all running well which makes everybody happy. They are all doing what they are supposed to be doing, so things are good all round at the moment- and long may it continue.”
One of the winners was Imperial Saint who won at Aintree on Saturday about which Johnson said: “ Imperial Saint at Aintree was massive for everyone at the yard - it’s always great to get a Saturday winner. The way he races and jumps is very very professional; he is owned by a lovely group of people and for them just to have a runner there was very special.
“He will now go to Newbury in three weeks time for a handicap chase over two miles again, and whatever he does over that distance he will be better over further which is very exciting, so there is lots to look forward to.
Another horse that Johnson was pleased with was Dont Wind Me Up who is owned by a number of local people.
He added: “Don’t Wind Me Up - ran a blinder the first time over hurdles at Ffos Las on Sunday. It wasn’t an ideal race but he got to jump eight hurdles on a racecourse so it all went really well. He is a very progressive type and will give us all a lot of fun
“I have got a lot of local people involved with Dont Wind Me Up, so the way he performed took a lot of pressure off my back. We got him onto the racecourse and he ran well, so happy days.
“Even though it's a long way we had about 20 of the owners group made it over to West Wales and they all had a good day.
“I had a lot of local people and a lot of friends involved and I’ve taken a lot of stick along the way, but I think he will be a very nice horse. In the time that he has been off the track he has filled out and matured, so it’s onto bigger and better things for him now.”
Johnson added: “I am delighted with the way that we have started but like many other trainers slightly frustrated that we have got a lot of horses that we’d like to run now but the ground isn’t suitable.
“However we are going to courses where the ground is suitable and those who are running are doing well.”
