WITH the Cheltenham Festival just weeks away the Jeremy Scott trained Golden Ace roared back to winning ways when she won the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton on Saturday.
Along with the rest of Scott’s horses the seven year old, who gave the Brompton Regis based handler his first winner at the Festival in 2024, has been disappointing this season but at the South Somerset course on Saturday afternoon that all changed.
The afternoon started well for Scott when King of the Lake won the opener at 7-1, and in the next Golden Ace the 6-5 favourite stormed home, also ridden by Lorcan Williams, to win the feature race and lift the prize pot of £41k.
However Scott’s yard wasn’t done yet and Sainted Canary 6-5 favourite also under Williams crowned a wonderful afternoon to land Scott the first treble of his training career.
Another local trainer Stuart Kittow enjoyed success at Taunton on Tuesday afternoon when Cornish Storm won the second race on the card under David Noonan after going off as 5-6 favourite.
The next meeting at the Orchard Portman track is on Thursday 27th February.
