WEST Somerset based trainers Philip Hobbs and Johnson White moved closer to notching 20 winners for the 2024-25 season when they enjoyed a treble at Exeter Racecourse on Friday. All of the winners were ridden by stable jockey Micheal Nolan.

First winner of the day for the duo who train close to the A39 between Bilbrook and Carhampton was Lowry’s Bar ridden by Nolan who won the two and half mile chase by a neck after going off at 5-4 favourite.

Their second winner came in the next race when Kap Vert, also ridden by Nolan, won the two mile novices’ hurdle over two miles at 14-1.

The third came in the last event of the day when Sober Glory, the 4-9 favourite, triumphed in the National Hunt Flat race over two miles and 161 yards ridden once more by Nolan.

This is the first treble the pair have enjoyed since Johnson White’s name was added to the licence at Sandhill Racing Stables back in March 2023.

Earlier this week Johnson White talked about each of the treble winning horses.

“Lowry’s Bar has won five races from his eight runs so far, in addition to which he has finished second on two occasions and fourth in the Silver Trophy at Chepstow. He is owned by some local friends of mine and is very exciting and progressive and doing everything right.”

He went on: “Kap Vert ran nicely at Ffos Las first time out and then took the big scalp of Jurancon at Exeter the other day. He is a very nice horse for the future and will be very exciting over fences at probably further than two miles. He is owned by Ronnie Bartlett who has been a big supporter of Sandhill over the years and has had several nice horses during that time.

“Sober Glory is owned by Brocade Racing who have had a number of horses here with us over the years and have been very big supporters of Sandhill . Sober Glory won his first bumper at Chepstow very nicely and then followed it up under a penalty at Exeter the other day which is no mean feat. He is a very exciting prospect for the future and has done everything right so far and will be a very nice novice hurdler next season.”
